Thomas and Julius in SI

2 separate aritcles in Sports Illustrated for Julius and Thomas. Pretty neat. Thomas made one comment that I loved he says "I watched my mother work in a coal mine when I was growing up and I saw my father drive 2 hours to work everyday, so if my job was going to be in jeporady, its not going to be because I didnt do everything to keep it."

Wow.

Well you can look at the guy see how hard he works in the gym. Arms are bigger than Arnold's in his body building days. You really need to read the article before you make a snide comment like that if you havent read it yet. Does not say one negative word about his contract, the Bears, or Benson. SI gives him all the credit for Grossman's big coming out party. Pretty big deal as far as Im concerned. TJ always has and always will be a class act. No denying that.

I'll always like TJ more than JJ, always have always will. I think most of it has to do with the teams JJ has played for though. My lord, Notre Dame and the Cowboys.

how is that a snide comment? Its the truth, he held out the whole preseason, the only reason that he is starting is because Benson got hurt. The only reason Benson was starting is because TJ held out, so basically he put his job in jeopardy and didnt do everything he could to keep it really. Im not even questioning the article or questioning TJ, Im just saying, a person that doesnt want to lose his job wouldnt hold out. If he keeps running like he has the first 3 weeks of the season, hes going to be a backup anyway. There is noone other than Rex Grossman that deserves credit for Rex Grossman's development. That dude was good 4 years ago and never got to show the world how good he is.

TJ never held out. He opted not to attend a "volunteer" conditioning program, choosing instead to use his own. That's what got him moved to second string and in the coach's doghouse. Then the injury kept him out of action for awhile.
Two very good articles. I'm quite pleased to see them portrayed in a such positive light. In these days of hoodlum athletes, our young kids really need a positive role model to look up to. I think JJ and TJ can fill that bill.
Nothing would please me more than to see the two brothers battling for the rushing title this year, and then see them face off in the play-offs, preferably in the NFC championship game. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

Oh please Mega. I know you love Cedric or such, but TJ is in there because he can pick up the blitz and when you're dealing with a QB who has shown himself to be a wee bit injury prone, who would you want in there? A guy who 'looked great in college' but isn't known for blitz pickup or a guy who had performed and is? Yes they want to put Benson in there, for monetary reasons moreso than anything done on the field but the development of Grossman is partially due to keeping him on the field and the number of hits you can keep him from taking.

I dont love Benson or Jones, I actually preferred Frank Gore and Cadillac Williams on that draft day and I prefered to draft McGahee over Michael Haynes, however I think calling Grossman injury prone is silly. Being injury prone is pulling your hamstring every other week. Grossman was just standing there when his own lineman fell on his ankle. The other time, he tore his acl when his cleats got stuck in the metrodome carpet and he was untouched. Anybody who ever watched Rex play at Florida can flat out tell you that hes not injury prone. Grossman is tough as hell.

Considering Ledel Betts is averaging more yards than TJ and Benson, I really dont give a [censored] who plays. Peterson could do just as good. I do like Benson a little more as a runner because he actually hits the hole and gets positve yards. This year, all TJ has done is dance. If he plays tentative against Tatupu and company, the bears are going to be in for a long night sunday. The seahawk defense is very underrated.

I really question those saying management wants Benson as the starter also. If they really wanted Benson as a starter, they would have traded Jones for Lelee when they had the opportunity. Its hard to knock Jerry Angelo's ability to draft great players and put all the peices in place. After all, it was Jerry Angelo who signed Jones in the first minute of free agency.

They may call it volunteer but it definitely isnt. You cant say they just singled out TJ either, Briggs, who is a better player than TJ, held out too and was benched. Its sorta like when Coach Wilson says there is a volunteer sunday practice, you [censored] better be there or youre going to hear about it come monday.
